Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for reading American Weekender!
Since launching our weekly newsletter in July 2023, we have loved the opportunity to write stories and share dining guides that highlight our favorite places throughout America. We hope our newsletter shines a light on people doing great things while inspiring a sense of American wanderlust. We also aim to be an indispensable resource that offers vetted recommendations for the best places to eat and drink when you’re on the road. Whether you’re traveling for vacation, work, or a mix of both, we hope our newsletters and Field Guides ensure that every meal is a memorable one.
This year, we’ve brought you along on a bar crawl through Cleveland’s top drinking spots, explored the seafood shacks of Southern Maine, traced a bottle of gin from Mississippi’s rice fields to a top New Orleans cocktail bar, and visited a fabulous bagel-maker in Milwaukee. We shared vetted recommendations for destinations like Michigan’s Harbor Country, Burlington, Vermont, and New Orleans. We also debuted our inaugural Landmark List, which honors restaurants and bars that are pillars of their community and offer outstanding food and drinks, and expanded our library of downloadable Field Guides, adding guides to Ann Arbor, Nashville, Boston, and more.

We have big plans for 2025! In the coming months, we’re packing our bags for locations all over the country. We vet every single restaurant, bar, and coffee shop we write about to make sure that they meet or exceed our very high standards. (And we also do not write about the places that don’t.) Above all, we want to make sure you have great experiences when you travel.
