A Cozy Autumn Getaway
VIROQUA, WIS. — For a town of 4,500, Viroqua really punches above its weight. Located in the Driftless Region, Viroqua is just two hours west of the capital of Madison. It’s a beautiful part of the state, where rocky rivers snake through rolling hills, and there’s wildlife — eagles, turkeys, hooting owls — at every turn. Viroqua boasts a charming downtown, where you’ll find just enough to do for a weekend escape. Besides solid picks for coffee, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there’s a fantastic co-op loaded with local foods that we hit up to source provisions for our cozy cabin. Throw a couple sweaters and a pair of boots in your weekender bag and let’s go explore.
