The Gateway to the Bourbon Trail
LOUISVILLE, KY. — There are many reasons to take a trip to Louisville in the spring. You can journey along the Urban Bourbon Trail before venturing out to visit the distilleries that dot the area (we particularly liked our tour of Willett Distillery in Bardstown). You can watch horse races like the Kentucky Derby (this year is the 150th running) at Churchill Downs while drinking mint juleps. Or, you can just spend a weekend restaurant and bar hopping. In this itinerary, we recommend two fun bourbon bars, as well as picks for coffee, wine, and sherry cobblers. And on the food side, we share our go-to spots for sausage biscuits, Neapolitan pizzas, and peppered catfish. Here’s how we’d spend our perfect day eating and drinking in Louisville.
