Explore the Best of Buffalo
BUFFALO, NEW YORK — We love getting to see places when they’re a little less touristed. That means November in Portland, Maine, months after the beach-goers have departed. It’s January in New Orleans, the Epiphany period between Christmas and Mardi Gras, when everyone is eating king cake and holding off-beat parades. Similarly, we think the colder months can be an excellent time for a weekend getaway in Buffalo.
We’ve visited Buffalo several times during the winter, and we’ve loved getting to experience the vibe of the snow-filled city. We love how the restaurants are nice and cozy, with fireplaces and big windows to watch the snow fall. We love how everyone in town lines up behind the Bills (here’s a New York Times story that explains the passion, and how ‘Go Bills’ is a multi-purpose phrase in this town). Plus: It’s just the right weather for Buffalo wings, beef on weck, and other local favorite dishes. Let’s go explore.
