Wouldn't You Like to Get Away?

BOSTON, MASS. — The best food scenes offer both breadth (a wide range of international cuisines available at various price points) and depth (a few cuisines that the area does really, really well). Boston nails both. Just like I would never come to Boston without getting a lobster roll, freshly shucked oysters, and fantastic Italian food, I would also never come without exploring the city’s Thai, Peruvian, and Chinese restaurants (which are currently my favorite places to eat here!). That’s not to mention the great wine bars and breweries where I like to post up for the afternoon, or cocktail bars for aperitivo hour or a nightcap.

Boston was the closest big city near to where I grew up, and that means I’ve spent a lot of time here, visiting the museums (my favorite is the Isabella Stewart Gardner), going to Red Sox and Celtics games, shopping on Newbury Street, and seeing friends and family. I’ve eaten endless slices of Pizzeria Regina pizza, Mike’s Pastry cannolis, and Fenway Franks. But every time I visit, I find new places worth visiting and great new things to eat. Ready to explore? Let’s start with Hong Kong French toast and Spam breakfast sandwiches.
